About Me

My name is Alina Kharel, and I am currently working as a Nurse Practitioner at Nova Medical Clinic in the Southwest Edmonton.

I completed a Master of Nursing degree in the Nurse Practitioner (Family/All Ages) stream from the University of Alberta, and a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Ottawa. I began my healthcare journey with a Bachelor of Nursing degree and have over 12 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse.

I have worked in a wide range of healthcare settings, including acute care and emergency departments, and have cared for patients of all ages—from children in hospital settings to older adults living in long-term care facilities. Throughout my nursing career, I have had the opportunity to serve various communities in Alberta, including Red Deer, Fort McMurray, and Edmonton.

During my time as a Registered Nurse in the emergency department, I cared for patients with multiple health concerns. Many presented with preventable conditions or worsening chronic illnesses. I witnessed how limited or delayed access to primary care often contributed to significant medical complications.

These experiences strengthened my commitment to preventive care, including routine screening, health promotion, early diagnosis, and effective chronic disease management. Ultimately, these experiences inspired me to become a Nurse Practitioner to deliver comprehensive primary care services in the community.

My goal is to extend primary care to members of our community who do not have a family doctor, partnering with them early to support their health through prevention, screening, and healthy lifestyle choices. I am committed to providing individualized, holistic, and patient-centered care to help patients manage both acute and chronic conditions and improve their overall quality of life.
